In 1999 a nationwide search was conducted to find the best boogie woogie piano/vocalists in the country to open Jools Holland’s ‘Jam House’ in Birmingham as the star attraction ‘Duelling Pianists’.
Hundreds of piano players were auditioned, four were ultimately picked. Two of them, Adrian Dixon and Peter Gill were given the honour of being the opening act to perform at the club. That first performance to a celebrity studded audience was so sensational that they were immediately engaged for their own theatre show.
Ten years after finishing that tour they are now back together and touring again in what can only be described as an explosive exhibition of boogie woogie and rock n roll piano playing.
Catch them while you can as due to their other independent commitments they will only be touring together on selected dates.

Long acknowledged as a unique interpreter of popular song and one of Britain’s top singers, award winning performer BARB JUNGR has brought her own writing and interpretation of great songs together in this fabulous new collection featuring some of her favourite songwriters. This is Barb Jungr like you’ve never heard her before in a deeply soulful, richly groove laden show which explores Jungr’s
trajectory from the roots of her European upbringing in the Northwest of
England to her international cult status as one of the great
song stylists through a musical prism of soul, blues and jazz.
“this is a wholly enjoyable album, immediately accessible but thoughtful and considered enough to richly reward repeated listening.” London Jazz
“proving that even if Stockport isn’t vintage road -move territory, Lancashire and Tennessee can still find common ground.” The Times
“Some Jazz singers want to appear knowing and sophisticated. Barb Jungr isn't like that; she just wants to get to the heart of the song, and if it means wearing her own heart on her sleeve at times, that's just fine.” The Telegraph |
